Da Capo's Circus Studio Head Tororo-Danchō Steps Down
posted on 2010-09-04 13:43 EDT
Kazutoshi Matsumura will still produce games in the works, train "next generation"

The official website of the Japanese game studio CIRCUS has announced on Saturday that Kazutoshi Matsumura — the man who is better known as "tororo-danchō" — is retiring as the head of the studio. According to the announcement, Matsumura is stepping down so he can train "the next generation" of staff members and "reform" the studio's corporate structure.

The announcement explained that Matsumura could not simultaneously run the company and cultivate new talent — especially since he is still producing the games that the studio currently has in development.

In addition to serving as the leader of CIRCUS, Matsumura produced numerous games such as the D.C. ~Da Capo~ franchise, My-HiME: Unmei no Keitōju, Gift, and true tears. He was also credited in the anime adaptations of D.C. ~Da Capo~, and he composed music for D.C. ~Da Capo~ and other franchises.
